Skate types

There are two main types of touring skates: simple models that you can attach directly to hiking boots, while others are used with ski bindings and skate boots. The essential thing in both types is that your footwear supports your ankle laterally. Models used with bindings and skate boots enable efficiency on longer trips. Models used with hiking boots do not have articulation between the binding and the skate and are made for a more relaxed ride.

Safety

Always remember to take ice picks and a safety line, as well as a change of clothes packed waterproof, for your skating trip. This equipment weighs relatively little overall and is absolutely crucial in the event of an accident. Ice skaters should also consider purchasing a waterproof rescue suit. Poles

A Nordic skater’s basic equipment also includes one or two poles.
