The pressure capsule and water-reacting component of inflatable vests need replacement from time to time, even when the vest has not been inflated. Inflatable vests are only safe when worn and serviced properly!

Automatic life vests fill their air compartments automatically with the CO² cartridge when the mechanism is submerged. If needed for some reason, the compartments can also be inflated by blowing through an integrated air hose.
