How to Choose the Right Winter Jacket for Yourself?

Are you looking for a jacket for everyday use or, for example, for winter camping? An everyday jacket won’t face extreme conditions but will endure a lot of regular wear, while a winter trekking jacket should pack small and provide proper protection against the cold.
Consider how cold the conditions will be where you’ll use the jacket. The lightest down or lightweight insulated jackets provide warmth comparable to a thick fleece, while our warmest jackets can handle even polar expeditions if needed.
Choose between down and synthetic insulation. Down packs compactly and, when properly cared for, is a very durable material, whereas synthetic insulation performs better in damp conditions.
Do you need a waterproof winter jacket? Around freezing temperatures and in light frosts, it’s best if the jacket material is waterproof; in proper subzero conditions, this feature isn’t as important.
Long or short winter jacket? A long hem looks stylish and provides extra protection. On the other hand, a waist-length jacket is more practical if your winter days involve a lot of sitting down and getting up, for example on benches or in public transport.
