A 3-in-1 or combination jacket is a convenient choice for many. Such a jacket has a removable inner jacket and a weatherproof outer jacket. These can be used both together and separately.
A wind-protective hood is indispensable: it provides incredible warmth and helps keep the weather out. In parka jackets, a fur or faux fur trim on the hood helps maintain warmth further by dampening the wind and creating a "protective barrier" against the chill in front of the face.
