Skiing jackets
A ski jacket for every trip
Pretty much all the ski jackets we sell work on the slopes. For backcountry skiing, shell-type jackets are the most common choice, because although the downhills call for extra insulation, you sometimes push uphill for long stretches when an insulated jacket would often be far too warm. The tours are long too, so it’s worth avoiding sweating your insulating layer wet.
Practical details
The details on ski jackets include a snow skirt at the waist and, for example, a lift-pass pocket on the sleeve — they work on the slopes but don’t get in the way when you use the jacket as an everyday winter coat either, and many a ski jacket ends up in other use as well. The hoods on ski jackets are sized roomy enough to fit a ski helmet underneath.
