Villawool is a family business founded by Matti & Raija Tikkanen in 1975 in Helsinki. From the very beginning, the brand has made its knitwear in its own knitting factory. Every product is designed, knitted, sewn and labelled by them. All products are made from start to finish by hand in a workshop on the beautiful Baltic island of Saaremaa.
From day one, Villawool has used only one of the world’s best materials: wool. It has evolved over millions of years to protect against even the harshest snowstorms, and it’s one of the few renewable fibres produced today. The merino wool Villawool uses is naturally mulesing-free.
