A cast iron pan for the camp cook. Weight: approx. 1.8 kg.

A solid piece of kit for campfire cooking! The comfortably high sides keep your hash or other ingredients under control, and the handle can be detached during cooking – it tends to get insanely hot.

The Modoc pan is pre-seasoned at the factory, meaning it’s ready to use straight out of the box – just give it a quick rinse and you’re good to go. Or well… you get the idea.

Cooking with cast iron is a bit easier compared to, say, stainless steel pans, but heat control and the use of fat still play a very different role than with non-stick coated products.

Weighing nearly two kilos, the pan holds a lot of heat once preheated, and unlike non-stick pans, there’s no need to worry about heating it up empty.

Simmering very acidic foods like tomato sauces can damage the polymerized layer on the surface, but no worries – it can be fixed at home. The pan is solid cast iron all the way through, so even if you have to scrub it clean using the harshest methods, you can always restore it with a fresh round of seasoning.
