These are at their best when you have to stand still in freezing temperatures for long stretches (rinkside at the ice hockey match, belaying on a climb, winter camp on a backcountry trip) or when you’re moving in genuinely cold conditions.
Weighing under 400 grams, the trousers pack down small when needed, whether you’re carrying a daypack or backpack, or hauling a pulk.
The down fill is treated to repel moisture, as is standard these days. This helps the down stay lofty and reduces clumping. The treatment uses an environmentally friendly finish made by Grangers. The Pertex Quantum Pro face fabric offers some water resistance.
