The Laavu (Finnish for a lean-to shelter or transportable, somewhat tipi like shelter) puukko knife has a fresh, modern design, but the basic nature of the knife is preserved: it is a Nordic all-purpose tool for hikers and wilderness enthusiasts, with which you can carve handsome feathered sticks, gut a fish, open food packaging etc. etc.. The blade length is also moderate in traditional Nordic fashion, emphasizing accurate blade control, especially when doing precise work.

The blade is made of stainless steel and is quite carefree to use. We recommend a diamond sharpener for sharpening.

The drop point-shaped blade has a section on the hammer side that works well with a separately purchased ferro rod. While the ferro rod comes with its own striker, using a knife is much more comfortable.
