This “i” model includes Garmin’s inReach functionality. In practice, this means that with a satellite phone subscription, the device allows communication and emergency assistance via satellite network, without relying on cellular coverage.

In emergencies, you can send an interactive SOS message to a coordination center. Note: Depending on the country you’re in, rescue costs may be your responsibility.
