Eräpuu Lapinleuku 145

A sturdy, no-nonsense leuku.
This Lapland leuku with a 145 mm blade is handmade in Finland to Eräpuu’s standards and built for real use in the backcountry. The blade is beefier than a standard puukko, and the handle is traditional birch. There’s no rivet at the end of the handle. The butt is smooth, so you can push on it with your hand when the job calls for it.
The carbon steel blade is easy to get razor sharp on ordinary whetstones. You don’t need a diamond sharpener, though using one won’t do any harm either.
- Blade length 145 mm
- Overall length 260 mm
- Blade thickness 3.2 mm
- Blade hardness 58–59 HRC
- Carbon steel blade
- Blade made by Laurin Metalli Oy, Kauhava
- Traditional leather sheath
The blade leaves the forge with a layer of carbon on its surface. This wears off with use.
Dry the blade before putting the knife back in its sheath. You can wash the leuku by hand. Afterwards, dry the blade and give it a light coat of cooking oil.
Knives with synthetic handles all look the same. Wooden handles, on the other hand, always have their own unique grain pattern, so your knife won’t look exactly like the one in the product photo. Please note that a grain pattern that differs from the photo isn’t grounds for exchanging the knife for another one.
