Padded or shell pants?
Ski pants are either padded pants or shell pants. Shell pants can be used as a base layer from autumn to spring, if necessary, while padded pants are more clearly special clothing for freezing weather.
What is the difference between regular shell pants and shell pants made for skiing? Ski pants always have very spacious leg openings so that long-leg boots can fit inside them. They also usually have snow gaiters. The materials are sturdier than regular shell pants because ski pants can easily feel hard and weight is not as critical as it is in hiking, for example.
