Tips and instructions on choosing skis and skiing gear:

Length of cross country poles:

- Skating (or "freestyle"): Length of skier x 0,90 = length of pole
- Classic: Length of skier x 0,83 = length of pole
For Nordic skating, apply the same factor as in skating ski poles.

Length of cross country skis:

- Classic: Length of skier + 20 - 25cm
- Skating: Length of skier + 5 - 15cm
After choosing the right length of ski, remember to tell us your weight and length in the Special requests field of your order. This way our ski professionals can choose the right pair for you, as each pair of skis is made for slightly different weights.

Back country ski length::

When not carrying a heavy backpack, simply add 15 to 20 cm in the skiers length and the result is the right ski length for Nordic back country skis (such as the Madshus Glittertind or Voss).
If you intend to carry a backapck, add 20-25cm to the skiers length.

Alpine pole length:

- Length of skier x 0,70 = pole length

Alpine ski length:

There are many factors that come to play when choosing an alpine ski: the terrain, the length and skill levels of the skier etc.
- A rule of thumb for on piste skiing is to go for a ski 10 cm shorter than the skier.
- For children it's wise to choose 20 cm shorter skis than the skier.
- For jumps, tricks and jibbing there are no rules - it seems, however, that most people choose skis as long as the skier.

Alpine boot choice:

Alpine boot sizes are reported in mondo sizes. This means that, for instance, a size "27.5" is 27.5 cm in length on the inside of the boot. You'll find the same measurement on many regular sports and outdoor shoes. Sometimes the mondo size is also referred to as JP or Japanese size. Another way is to measure the length of your foot and add 5 mm to get your boot size
