The core idea behind CamelBak was born in 1988 during a cycling race in Texas. Michael Eidson was preparing for a hot 100-mile competition and decided to use an IV bag instead of a small water bottle as a hydration reservoir. The bag, equipped with a ready-made tube, fit easily under his cycling jersey, and a clothespin at the end of the tube served as a valve.
