The Sea to Summit Ultralight Self Inflating Mat Large is a self-inflating pad that’s light for its size. At 2.5 cm thick, it’s best suited to summer use, but can handle around freezing point temps at a push.

Compared with the Camp model, this Ultralight version uses a thinner, lighter 30-denier face fabric.

• The smart valve makes it easy to fine-tune the mat. Once it has drawn in as much air as it can on its own, you can top it up with a breath or two. Just don’t inflate it too firm

Using a self-inflating pad is easy. When you make camp, take the pad out of its bag, open the valve and lay it out on dry ground clear of sharp twigs and similar objects. While you’re setting up camp, the foam inside expands back to its original shape and fills the pad with air. Finish it off with a breath or two. Close the valve and the pad is ready!

When you break camp, open the valve and roll the air out of the pad. Note! Don’t use a lot of force, or try to empty the pad too fast, instead, let the air exit without forcing.

At home, always store the mat unrolled with the valve open. If it stays packed in its stuff sack, the foam loses its loft and the mat will no longer inflate by itself.
