The insulation rating of the Pursuit mat, i.e. the so-called R-value, is exactly 3. Thanks to this, the mat is comfortable not only in summer but also in late spring and during autumn hikes. Compared to old-fashioned, very thin mats, the Pursuit is nicely thick: 5 cm. However, it belongs to the manufacturer’s Ultralight series, meaning that considering its thickness and warmth, the weight is quite reasonable. (The other product families are “Allrounder” and “Vehicle supported”.
The RCS-certified surface fabric is made from recycled fiber and solution-dyed, which reduces chemical load as well as water and energy consumption by approx. 30%.

A self-inflating mat should be taken out of its stuff sack, allowed to inflate, blown into a couple of times, the valve closed, and then left like this “overfilled” overnight – this way, a mat that has been stored in its stuff sack for a long time fluffs up and starts to function normally again for camping use. At home, the mat should be stored with the valve open, for example under a bed.
