The women’s Salomon Genesis Mid GTX is a solid choice on both easy and faster paced hikes. The mid-cut cuff helps keep debris and splashes out while shielding your ankle from cold wind.

Many hiking shoes feel fairly stiff underfoot. The Genesis Mid is softer, with an emphasis on cushioning, highlighting its roots from the Genesis trail running series. This model also weighs closer to a running shoe than to sturdier hiking shoes.
