A self-inflating pad at a reasonable price.
A solid choice for camping, and potentially for hiking if you don’t mind the weight. Surface: 190T 75D, 100% polyester. The R value, describing the insulation level, is a whopping 5.8, meaning it is warm enough to sleep even in winter conditions.
As you arrive at camp, open the pad and its valve. The foam on the inside starts to resume its original shape and suck air in. At the end you can add a bit of air by blowing if you so wish - however it’s useful to test how soft you can run it as many people inflate their pads too hard.
At home it’s best to store the pad opened up and with the valve open as well.
