While the pavement-oriented Rebel is a shoe that almost equals race shoes with carbon fiber or plastic plates, this Rebel Trail version gives a sturdy, precise feel also suitable for technically demanding terrain. The feel is balanced, as this shoe is not an extremely lightweight race shoe, nor is not a super soft ultra-distance shoe.

The Fuel Cell Rebel is a good choice for many skill and fitness levels, including beginners who spend most of their time doing a walking gait, instead of running.

Since the foam material in the midsole is firmer than usual and the Vibram outsole is also sturdy, a separate “rock plate” has been omitted, enabling a more flexible structure.

The outsole of these shoes features Vibram’s new “Traction Lug” structure: each lug has a small step, which in tests has increased traction by up to 25%
