The appearance of Kupilka products is created by industrial designer Heikki Koivurova, whose style combines an earthy attitude with beautiful yet practical design.
In the Kalevala, the crane’s role is to act as a guardian who brings the robbers of the Sampo to a halt. Startled by Lemminkäinen’s singing, the bird cries out so loudly that all the people of Pohjola awaken and set off in pursuit of the thieves. The Finnish name for the crane is in fact derived from the sound it makes.
