Hoka Men Speedgoat 7 Hike GTX

Many people now head out on the trails in trail running shoes. The Hike version of the popular Speedgoat 7 trail running shoe adds a couple of features that come in handy on the trail: a padded ankle-high collar keeps pine needles and grit out, and the upper is built to handle the miles, even if it adds a few grams along the way.

• Vibram Megagrip outsole for solid grip in wet and dry conditions
• 5 mm lugs on the sole
• Heel-to-toe drop: 4 mm

The sole looks thicker in the photo than it is in reality. It’s still thicker than on many other brands, though. The EVA foam is shaped into a “bucket” for your foot, with edges that rise higher around your sole. This structure is part of what gives Hoka footwear its distinctive feel.
