The 9 cm thick Ultra 7R takes advantage of Exped’s Downmat series technology: the air compartments are covered with lightweight fabrics and insulated with real down. It prevents air from circulating between the points heated by your body and the points cooled by the outside air. The R-value of the pad is a whopping 7.1, which makes it easy to recommend for winter use. The lowest using temperature recommended by the manufacturer is -30ºC.

The surface fabric is a 20 denier ripstop

A Schnozzel pump bag is included to fill the pad without the need for blowing. Blowing would draw moisture into the pad and the use of a pump bag reduces fainting.
