A waterproof map for Vuokatti, Hiidenportti and Tiilikkajärvi.

The majestic rocky gorge of Hiidenportti is the region’s most notable natural attraction. It is accessible via the Hiidenkierros trail, which begins at the Palolampi information point and continues to the meadows of the former wilderness farmstead at Kovasinvaara.

In the remote wilderness of the watershed region, one may encounter bears, wolverines, lynxes, and wolves. The most conservation-significant bird species include the bean goose, crane, osprey, and black-throated diver. The three-toed woodpecker and Siberian jay thrive in the spruce forests.

The 10-kilometer Kitulankierros trail, in addition to the Hiidenkierros highlights, introduces hikers to majestic spruce stands, wetland areas, and the remains of a logging cabin. Breaks can be enjoyed at the lean-tos by Porttilampi and Kitulanlampi.

The Tiilikka area is a valuable transition zone between forest and mire types, where northern and southern characteristics blend. The forests are typically barren pine-dominated heathlands. The lake scenery is characterized by narrow ridged peninsulas, one of which almost divides Lake Tiilikka in two. The shores are lined with light sandy beaches, the most beautiful being Venäjänhiekka.

Among the marked trails, the most popular is Uiton kierto. The Virvatulten trail leads through the Pumpulikirkko pothole to the Rautavaara Forest Lodge. Tiilikka is part of the restored Tiilikka-Älänne canoe route.

Vuokatti’s famous ski trails, totaling 150 kilometers, are suitable in summer for hikers and mountain bikers. Lean-tos are located every few kilometers.

The map is printed on high-quality Tyvek material, which is waterproof and tear-resistant. Therefore, you don’t need to protect your map from rain, and it won’t tear during use. The manufacturer guarantees the material will endure 20,000 folds. Thanks to its clever folding layout, all the key destinations in the area fit onto a single map.
