The UL Long Hammock is ready-to-go package as it includes “whoopie slings” style suspension ropes. Their ingenious design allows for infinite adjustment when no tension is applied, but the structure locks immediately when you place your weight on the hammock.
The hammock also comes with a ridgeline. It has uses on its own, such as hanging a stuff sack, but its main purpose is to adjust the “sag” of the hammock to the correct setting. It can also be used to hang a separately available tarp. The tarp should be attached to the ridgeline, not directly between two trees - trees swaying at different rates in the wind can exert large forces, which the ridgeline can withstand but the tarp might not.
