The women’s Viking Her Moment Low GTX is a good choice for regular walking-pace workouts, with or without walking poles. The midsole offers plenty of cushioning, but the sole is shaped to work specifically for walking rather than running.

The outsole has more tread to wear down than most running shoes, and it’s made of a compound that doesn’t harden in cold conditions.

A genuine Gore-Tex ePE membrane keeps the water out.
