Royal Robbins was one of the finest climbers who ever lived. He and his wife were familiar faces in the Sierra Nevada rock climbing scene during the 1960s. They belonged to a diverse group of climbers who coined the term “clean climbing”: the idea was to leave as few traces on the rock faces as possible.
Royal climbed and paddled not only across the Americas but around the world, always returning home to Yosemite Valley.
