The stretchy ripstop fabric used in these pants is comfortably airy and designed for summer use. The Pinewood Insectsafe treatment prevents insects from landing and staying on the fabric, and also repels ticks.

The active ingredient in the Insectsafe treatment is IR3535, which has been used in repellent sprays for over 30 years. It provides long-lasting protection against ticks and insects - even 80 washes do not remove the substance from the fabric. The ingredient does not kill insects but makes the fabric an unpleasant environment for them. An insect landing on the fabric typically spends a moment there before leaving. IR3535 is also safe for use by small children and pregnant women. The ingredient is approved by the WHO, and the U.S. EPA and CDC.
