Rugged and tall winter boots for men. Membrane-free.
The Skare Expedition is Lundhags’ warmest boot model. The 5 mm thick insole inside aids in daily use: by removing it, you can speed up the drying process after a long day. The lower part of the boot is made from fully waterproof Certech rubber compound, and the shaft is crafted from Perwanger suede leather.
Compared to three season Lundhags boots, the Skare has a more supple midsole, taking a step away from a stiff feel.
Many hiking boots have outsoles that stiffen in freezing temperatures. This model, however, features a sole made from IceTrek compound, which is specifically designed for winter use.
The Skare Expedition is a traditional Lundhags shell boot: the construction contains no fragile membranes—instead, the waterproof part is solid rubber, and the parts less exposed to moisture are made from water-repellent leather.
- In classic Lundhags style, the last offers extra room, especially in the toe area
- Removable inner boot made primarily of wool
- Insoles and inner boot are insulated with PrimaLoft Aerogel fiber
- The boot’s structure secures the heel effectively in place
- Vibram Mattarone outsole with Arctic Grip technology: designed to perform on snow and ice
- Shaft height: 32 cm
- Country of manufacture: Portugal
Perwanger leather is produced by a family-owned company in the Italian Tyrol. It is commonly used in boots made for hiking and mountaineering.
Care for Lundhags shell boots:
The boots should be cleaned regularly to remove loose dirt and dried at room temperature – the insoles should also be removed and dried after use. The upper sections of the boots should be treated with water-repellent wax or grease when it is clear that the leather needs conditioning. This is not done on new boots – the first treatment should be after approximately 100 km of use (depending on conditions). Waxing or greasing must not be done “just in case” or too often, so that the stitching does not remain wet and the leather does not start to lose its natural properties or become baggy (as described by warranty cobblers). The waterproof lower part does not require any treatment; cleaning is sufficient. Insoles and laces should be replaced when necessary.
