A German man named Lorenz Wagner inherited the shoemaking profession almost by blood: his father was in the same trade. When the time came to establish his own shoe brand, he took the first two letters of his first and last names – and Lowa was born. His two brothers also founded their own brands: from this background came Hanwag (Hans Wagner) and Hochland (Adolf Wagner). Solid expertise was established as early as the 1920s, and over the decades, production expanded from everyday and work shoes to primarily hiking and trekking footwear. Today, Lowa is sold in eighty countries worldwide.
