What to eat on a hike? In-store event

Join us for an evening of inspiration on hiking and good trail food! The event is free, but please sign up using the link at the bottom of this page.

Want your hikes to be tastier, lighter and better fuelled? This talk gives you a practical, well-rounded introduction to trail food, whether you're new to hiking or already have plenty of trips behind you. We'll cover different types of hiking food, meal planning, cutting the weight of your food and eating a balanced diet on the trail.

Topics covered:

– The different options available for eating on the trail

– How to plan a practical menu for your hike that you'll actually enjoy eating

– How to lighten your load when it comes to food

– Tips to take your trail cooking to the next level

The aim of the talk is to give you the basics, encourage you to try something new and offer fresh ideas and tips for eating outdoors. If you're planning, or dreaming of, multi-day trips and hikes, you'll pick up tips on putting together good food for the trail. The ideas work just as well on day hikes and weekend trips, of course.

The talk is open to anyone interested in the topic!

Your speakers:

Kaisa and Ella, wilderness and nature guides at Luontohaaste, love good trail food, whether they're out for the day or on a longer hike. Years of year-round trips mean the talk is full of practical tips, real insights and the occasional mishap along the way! They know that tasty, nourishing food is what keeps you going on the trail.

Kaisa and Ella enjoy getting outdoors in all sorts of ways and want to encourage people to head out in every season. They're especially fond of paddling, ski touring and all kinds of small outdoor adventures, these days often with their children.
