Repairing Damaged Hiking Clothing or Footwear
Broken zip on your waterproof or down jacket, a hole in your shell, a split seam in your trousers, or a sole coming away from your hiking boots? Even the best-made outdoor clothing and footwear can fail eventually. If the rest of the item is still in good shape, repairing the damaged part will usually give it plenty more life.
We want to support the circular economy and keep our products in use for as long as possible. So before you throw out a damaged jacket or pair of boots and buy new, try repairing it first.
You can fix small holes yourself with repair tape or a fabric patch, and plenty of people think a few patches just give outdoor gear a bit of character. We stock repair supplies that let you handle some repairs at home. If you'd rather have a professional fix the hole, you can arrange that through us too.
Seam repairs and zip replacements are best left to a professional. Repairs to shell and down garments are easy to arrange through our repair partner.
We can take care of your footwear as well. Have your hiking boots professionally serviced, get a zip replaced, or have your boots resoled when the tread is worn out.
We work with Vuota, a cobbling and repair service. It's simple to use: buy the repair in our online store, post the item off, and you'll get it back in around two weeks.
You'll find our repair services here.
Vuota wants to help move away from throwaway culture and bring more recognition to small-scale craft trades. Choosing repair and maintenance over buying new is good for the environment, and when you do it through Scandinavian Outdoor & Vuota, you're also supporting skilled local jobs in the Nordics. Vuota's founder Lasse doesn't do all the work himself – he relies on a wide, carefully chosen network of skilled tailors and cobblers across Finland. The service is designed to be easy: once you place a repair order on our site, Vuota handles the rest. It really is that simple.
