June outdoor tip — here's why June is hard to beat
June is a favourite month for many hikers. There are plenty of reasons why, and hopefully by the time you've finished reading, you'll want to head outdoors straight away.
The first notes of summer

June is when summer really begins. Trees blossom and come into leaf, and the grass shoots up fresh and green. After spring, nature bursts into early-summer colour, and wildlife becomes more active at the same time. It's worth taking in, even if it's just on an evening walk.
Hiking season in Lapland

From the start of June until roughly Midsummer is a great time for a hiking trip in Lapland. The mosquitoes usually haven't woken up yet, so you can hike in peace. This time of year also tends to be fairly dry, and scorching heatwaves are rare. Temperatures below 20°C are comfortable when you're on the move all day.
Paddling trips in the archipelago

Before the peak of the bird nesting season is a good time to get out on the sea for a paddling trip. Boaters and holidaymakers spend a lot of time on the water in July, but June is much quieter. That makes early June one of the best times of year for paddling.
The start of the summer outdoor season

For many people, the snow-free outdoor season kicks off in June – whether you're on foot, on a bike or in a kayak. It also means our range is at its widest, with the shelves still packed with this season's new arrivals. It's a good time to top up your outdoor gear, clothing and footwear.
