The owners and entrepreneurs behind Karttakauppa are Aino Wuolijoki and Janne Kostamo—both geography professionals with a deep love for maps and over 20 years of experience in publishing. In late 2024, after a major Finnish map publisher ceased operations, they decided it was time to save the Finnish map publishing industry!
