“Canada boots”
Kamik’s best-known product type is the so-called Canada boot, designed to keep your feet dry and warm in changing conditions. It has a rubber lower section that protects your feet from water and slush, and a leather upper. Different versions suit different uses: the lighter, more flexible models work for walking around freezing point and in the cold, while the heaviest are at home on a snowmobile or in situations where you spend a lot of time sitting or standing still.
For the city, the fells and the forests
The cold bites hard in a Nordic winter, and Kamik boots meet the challenge. Kamik’s felt-like inner boots are made from 100% recycled beverage bottles. All surplus rubber from production is recycled - on an annual basis, the recycled rubber is enough to make as many as 180,000 pairs of rubber boots. The same goes for felt: the annual amount of recycled felt is around 45,000 kilos. Every Kamik factory runs on renewable energy. The manufacturer is committed to ESG principles (a management model based on environmental, economic and social responsibility).
90% of the water used in production is recycled. Packaging materials are made from recycled and recyclable materials - this alone saves the equivalent of the CO2 emissions of 132 cars every year. The Heat-MX insulating fibre used in some boots is made from recycled polyester. Kamik does not use PFC compounds. The material called Rise (previously known as Bloom) contains algae and bio-based additives.
The leather parts of Kamik boots are made from leather sourced from tanneries rated to the “gold” level by the LWG, the Leather Working Group.
