Blundstone - since 1870
Founded in Tasmania, specifically Hobart, in 1870, Blundstone is the king of outdoor footwear. Over 150 years ago, John Blundstone developed shoes that would work equally well on cobblestone streets, used by farmers and ranchers, and on the hard stone floors of factories.
From mountain landscapes to city streets
Blundstone shoes have served mountaineers, authorities, the armed forces and explorers, all uses where equipment must be reliable to the last detail. By the 1950s, Blundstone had developed its range of work boots and production reached 200 pairs of shoes per day.
The birth of a classic
In the 1960s, the model number 500 was developed, the ancestor of the current collection, a Chelsea boot model with proper pull loops for easy dressing, and a recognizable look. Over 25 million pairs of the 500 series have been sold worldwide!
In the 1970s, Blundstone equipped the Australian Everest expedition with a special model inspired by the mountaineer. At the end of the decade, Blundstone received an Australian Design Award for its safety shoe collection.
Today, Blundstone shoes are worn by young and old around the world, and Blundstone shoes are still seen in both outdoor and work shoe use.
